Sonken Bundai's True Name has the Kanji: 炎蓮. Now, usually it's rather simple to figure out what the Kanji stands for... since official sources, like the her official character page. This is due to the hiragana/katakana written next to the Kanji, in this case: いぇんれん. The proper way of translating this would be "Ienren". So why are we translating it as "Yenren"? Aside from there being no official (to my knowledge) proper transliteration, Yenren is more aesthetically pleasing than Ienren. There is also the fact that Ye is not part of modern Hiragana either, so creative liberties. But regardless... Let's make a poll out of it!Read more >
So... Due to various circumstances (a user got a bit too page-create happy), we now have pages for the Harukoi Otome characters. The only characters from that story that, to my knowledge, were part of the Koihime verse are Oikawa and Fuyurugi, both characters connected to Kazuto, so I allowed them. But...
- Hayasaka Akihito
- Hayasaka Umi
- Kiryuu Sonya
- Serizawa Yuika
- Orito Riru
- Kusuhara Ayaka
... we now have quite a few characters that I don't believe even got mentioned in the Koihime verse. And my question is this: should we fully endorse (using their links in various articles, adding the plot of the game, adding them to the character navbox, etc.) these non-Koihime characters? The only connection is that they came from the same school as Kazuto, St.…Read more >
To be honest, while I'm probably one, if not the only person here, who is heavily enforcing the whole Wiki standard of Modified Hepburn romanization, I personally don't want to deal with the mess. I find it more natural to write Touka instead of having to look up her name on the website, then copy paste it here as Tōka. It's exhausting and tiring.
And, seeing as we're adding the Sengoku Koihime girls, and the new additions are not using Modified Hepburn, we are now in a quandary. I need opinions on how we should romanize the characters.
I personally just want to slap the Hepburn Romanization into the "Pronunciation" part of the Naming (Japanese) Template, and never ever use it on normal articles. It's tiresome, troublesome, and requires too …Read more >
Should we change the current system for the Koihime Musou Characters? Frankly speaking, separating the characters by game doesn't change much since the art style barely changed from Koihime Musou, to Shin Koihime Musou, to Moeshouden. I've also had my reservations about Infobox Images with text in them. I don't mind the images having no transparency, but ones with text, even in Japanese Kana and Kanji, always bothered me. We can probably use the same image for all three and label them: Original, referring to them being made by... whoever the original sprite artist is... Koihime Eiyuutan seemed to have a bit of an artsytle shift but not by much, and only the new characters were really showcased there... I think it was supposed to be a mobil…Read more >
I can't promise sophistication from this, but I might be revamping the Character List on the Front Page.
A possible replacement might be this (Which I might choose to replace the current Faction Navboxes on Character Pages):
And with that in mind, I would like some comments on the format.
Next, I could potentially create Navboxes, Infoboxes, or even a Character List for Sengoku Koihime. However I do need to know this: What is the best way to categorize characters? Or rather, since we're already doing Factioning, What are the Factions of Sengoku Koihime and do they have any Color Schemes that we should use to separate them?Read more >
